Crash Kills Diana Man

Thursday night around 9:00 Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on US-259 in Gregg County. It was about two miles south of Longview. A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Danny Lee, 61, of Longview, was traveling north in the inside southbound lane of US-259. A 2005 Chrysler 300 driven by Benjamin Murphy, 34, of Diana, was traveling south in the inside southbound lane of the same roadway. The vehicles struck head-on at the crest of a hill. The Chevrolet spun to the left before rolling onto its right side in the inside lane facing west while the Chrysler spun around and came to rest in the outside southbound lane facing north. The driver of the Chrysler, Murphy, died at the scene. Judge Jameson pronounced Murphy dead at the scene, and Welch’s Funeral Home in Longview has his body. Paramedics transported Lee, the driver of the Chevrolet, to Good Shepard Medical Center in Longview in serious condition.
