Ships are returning to Galveston, the fourth largest cruise port in the country. Rodger Rees is CEO of Galveston Wharves and says going out to sea won’t happen until the vaccination of those involved. That means 95 percent of passengers and 98 percent of the crew need to get a COVID shot. He hopes they’ll be able to take to the seas in July but says the biggest issue is the crew. Rees says a couple of Carnival ships are already at the port, and other cruise lines are inquiring. He says a Royal Caribbean ship is coming in, and their entire crew of 350 are vaccinated.
