DPS Scraps Plans For Active-Shooter Training Facility

The Texas Department of Public Safety has canceled a $1.2 billion active-shooter training facility plan. Instead, the DPS is asking the legislature for $381.5 million to upgrade its current facilities with better technology, dormitories, and a cafeteria for trainees. The agency is still facing criticism for its role in the multiagency response to the Robb Elementary School massacre in Uvalde last year when a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers.
