Emeyabbi Signs Plus Mavs Fall Despite Porzingis Big Game In Today’s Sports Update

Kristaps Porzingis had 32 points and 12 rebounds for the Mavericks in his third straight 30-point game. Despite his efforts, the Mavs still lost to Memphis 121-107.

The Mavericks played their fourth straight game since Doncic, the second-year guard voted an All-Star starter, sprained his right ankle in practice last Thursday. They are 2-2 in those games and 4-5 this season minus Doncic, including the Dec. 14 game vs. Miami in which he left two minutes in with a sprained ankle

The Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team is the fourth-ranked team in the nation in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association poll, as announced Tuesday. The Lions have been nationally ranked 16 times in the WBCA poll, seven weeks in a row from 2007-08, and now nine weeks in a row this season. The Lions are also ranked No. 3 in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America poll.

Texas A&M University-Commerce head football coach David Bailiff announced the initial signees to the 2020 signing class on Wednesday. The Lions welcomed 34 signees to the program on the first day of the signing period. The class features numerous all-state and all-district picks, team captains, as well as academic all-stars.

The Lions will begin spring practices in the first week of March, with the Spring Game scheduled for Saturday, April 4, with alumni and children’s activities also on that day.

Boston-headquartered national nonprofit Team IMPACT’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing acute and chronic illnesses through the power of a team. Team IMPACT, along with the Texas A&M University-Commerce Men’s Basketball Team, will hold a special Draft Day celebration for nineyear-old Emerson DePaz of Greenville, today (Feb 6) in the Field House.

REGION XIV

Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) baseball made the trip out west to take on Weatherford College on Tuesday, and despite a home run in the first inning, the Eagles fell by a score of 12-2. NTCC will be back in action this weekend at home, taking on Pratt Junior College in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 pm and Sunday at noon with a single game. The Eagles moved the games back from Friday and Saturday because of wet weather.

HIGH SCHOOL

Paris High’s Softball game scheduled for tonight has been changed from a home game and they will play at Bells @ 5:00. Due to Field Conditions. Likewise North Lamar’s scrimmage this Saturday will be played in Mt Pleasant instead of at home.

Wednesday, high school student-athletes celebrated National Signing Day 2020. Most of the big names signed during the early period in December, but that didn’t mean the regular signing day was meaningless.

Paris Wildcats Tennis JV and Varsity results from the Texarkana Tennis Tournament at the end of January had 1st place Boys Doubles going to Andrew Fasken & Alec Fleming while 2nd place girls’ doubles went to Paula Torres & Hana Syed. Elliot Fasken received 1st place boys’ singles.

Mt Pleasant’s softball scrimmage changed to Saturday (Feb 8) at MPHS Lady Tiger Field with the following lineup. At 11:00 am, Mt Pleasant takes on North Lamar, at 12:30 North Lamar and Denison face-off, ending with a 2:00 pm game between Mt Pleasant and Denison.
