Former Fire Chief Charged With Theft

An East Texas fire official has been charged with stealing from his department. Former East Mountain Volunteer Fire Department Chief James Wilson Burks has been indicted by the Upshur County Grand jury for Misapplication of more than $30,000 of Fiduciary Property.  He was arrested by Upshur County deputies and booked into jail, where his bond was set at $50,000. No information about the allegedly stolen property was disclosed.
