A fugitive and two other people were arrested early Sunday morning by Hopkins County Deputies after a traffic stop on I-30 for a defective headlamp. Deputies contacted the driver, who was too nervous, and they asked for him to step out of the vehicle. A search of the car was requested but denied. They arrested the driver and a 38-year-old passenger for a misdemeanor. The male passenger, 30-year-old Alexander Escobar, of San Antonio, had a U.S. Marshals’ warrant for failure to register as a sex offender and aggravated sexual assault of a child. Escobar was also charged locally with possession of a controlled substance and failure to identify.
