Gregg County Commissioner Shannon Brown and his wife, Marlene Jackson, have reached a plea bargain with prosecutors who have pleaded guilty to election fraud. They were each sentenced to one year’s probation and fined $2,000, but Shannon will be allowed to stay in office. A grand jury had indicted the pair on dozens of counts of felony vote harvesting during Brown’s primary campaign. Officials expect similar plea deals with two co-defendants.
