Well friends…this is officially my last Chamber Connection. Once again, I want to thank each and every one of you for your support of me and the Chamber of Commerce! It has been the greatest 8+ years of my life and I will treasure the friendships and memories forever! I hope you will continue to support me in my new position as the Executive Director of the Healthcare Foundation and I know you will support the new President of the Chamber!

Don’t miss the Homemade Ice Cream Freeze Off- Sat., June 11th @ 4:00pm the Civic Center grounds
For just $3 you can enjoy all-you-can-eat homemade ice cream, this Saturday, June 11th at 4:00 on the Civic Center Grounds. Get there early…and watch the Dairy Festival Contestants compete in the milking contest at 3:00, then make your way over to the ice cream freeze off! If you have never been, here’s how it works…contestants make freezers of their favorite homemade ice cream. The set it up on the tables and serve it to the public. In the meantime, the judges are tasting and determining the winners. You get the chance to judge too…we also award a People’s Choice Award. When you get your bowl and spoon ($3) you will also receive a people’s choice ballot. After you have tasted all the ice cream you can, you may vote on your favorite! The ballot box is near the sound stage! We tally the votes and award a prize to the winner!

Up, up and away… 57th Annual Hopkins County Dairy Festival’s Balloon Rally and 5k Milk Run
This year’s chip timed race will be held on Friday evening, June 10 at 7:00pm. Imagine running down a country road, on a beautiful summer evening in Hopkins County, beneath a sky filled with colorful balloons. This unique family event features an out and back course that begins and ends at the balloon glow and launch area! Stick around after the race and enjoy the amazing sights and sounds of 30 brilliantly colored balloons and live entertainment from the main stage. All runners 18 years and older will have their bib numbers entered in a drawing for a ride in a hot air balloon on Saturday evening, June 11th. All winners will be announced on Friday night after the run.
Mission: To raise community awareness and to salute the hard working dairy farmer and their families who have contributed so richly to our economy and to the quality of life in Sulphur Springs. Proceeds from the Milk Run directly support the youth scholarship programs of 57th Annual Hopkins County Dairy Festival. Want to WIN a ride in a Hot-Air Balloon? Adult Leadership Class being offered for the Fall! Sign up Now!!!
Lynda Hager reported that she would be offering an Adult Leadership Class starting in August for anyone who is interested. The Adult Leadership Class is a community leadership development program sponsored by the Hopkins county Chamber of Commerce. The course was created in 1989 with the concept of offering leadership training and community involvement for emerging business and community leaders. Cruisin’ for St. Jude’s Classic Car Show/Flea Market, June 11th at 11:00 a.m., S. S. Antique Gallery
The Sulphur Springs Antique Gallery, 1130 Shannon Road East (East frontage road of I-30), will host a Classic Car Show/Flea Market w/Tribute Artist Josh Davis as Elvis at 11 a.m. Bring your classic vehicles and show them off that day! Splash Kingdom is now open in Greenville and we will be hosting their ribbon cutting June 20th from 5:00-7:00pm. They are located on I-30 in Greenville. This is a fabulous new water park and we hope everyone can join us as we celebrate their grand opening and ribbon cutting!

Affiliated Driving School, Tuesday, July 19th at the Senior Citizen’s Center
Karon Weatherman is offering an Affiliated Driving School at the Senior Citizen’s Center on Tuesday, July 19th. The class is good for ticket dismissal and/or 10% off of your liability insurance.
