A Sulphur Springs police officer observed a man riding in an SUV and knew he had an outstanding warrant. The officer arrested 59-year-old James Hurley Cork on the warrant, which charged him with illegal dumping. He was released Monday afternoon.
Hopkins County Deputies stopped a vehicle Sunday night on Hwy 19 North at FM 71 for a defective license plate light. The driver’s suspicious behavior led the officer to ask permission to search the vehicle, which he denied. Later a K-9 alerted, and a search revealed suspected Fentanyl pills, firearms, and paraphernalia. As a result, officers booked 39-year-old Nathanael Kenneth Cowie of California into the Hopkins County Jail on narcotics and weapons charges.
