HS Volleyball Plus Cowboys Sign Backup QB In Today’s Sports Update

The Paris Lady Cats will be home tonight against Pittsburg as Paris tries to snap a three-game losing streak. North Lamar will hit the road to take on Gilmer. Gilmer beat the Pantherettes in three sets earlier in the district.
Prairiland will host Rains as they try to remain undefeated in district play. Chisum is also at home, and they play Grand Saline. Detroit will play James Bowie at home, and Rivercrest travels to Clarksville.

This Friday night on 101.9 KBUS, the Paris Wildcats will host Terrell. Pregame with Steven Johnston and Robert High is 7:00 pm.

Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Morgan died Sunday at 77, the Cincinnati Reds announced on Monday. Morgan suffered from a nerve condition called polyneuropathy. The 10-time All-Star played 22 seasons with the Reds, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, and Oakland Athletics. Morgan, born in Bonham, won back-to-back National League MVP awards in 1975 and 1976, during which the Reds won two straight World Series titles.

Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones doesn’t believe Dak Prescott’s serious ankle injury will change any organization’s long-term plans with the quarterback. Prescott underwent surgery to fix a compound fracture and dislocation in his right ankle Sunday and reportedly faces a four-to-six-month recovery.

The Cowboys are signing Garrett Gilbert off the Browns’ practice squad as their third quarterback. Gilbert, who played at the University of Texas and SMU, has never started a game since entering the league as a sixth-round choice for the Rams in 2014
