Man Killed In Pontotoc County Officer Involved Shooting Identified

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Pontotoc County as 44-year-old Michael Leon Hammett. Authorities say the officer shot him after he approached the deputy with a knife at a house near Oil Center. His obituary describes him as an avid fisherman who grew up in Carter County. The deputy is on administrative leave. The investigation is ongoing.
