On Monday, the world’s largest active volcano spewed ash and lava. Officials said that Mauna Loa (MAU-nuh LOW-ah) wasn’t threatening communities on Hawaii’s Big Island, but people need to prepare for worse. The US Geological Survey warned the island’s 200,000 residents that an eruption “can be very dynamic, and the location and advance of lava flows can change rapidly.”
