Free Child Safety Seat Check Set at Morris County Sherriff’s Annex
Parents, Caregivers can have their Child Safety Seats checked for safety and proper installation
WHEN: Saturday, July 24, 2021, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
WHERE: Sheriff’s Annex Parking Lot, 502 Union Street, Daingerfield
Atlanta – Parents and caregivers can have their child’s safety seats checked to ensure they meet current safety standards. They are installed correctly and determine what type of safety seats are required for different ages and sizes of children.
On-site certified technicians will educate caregivers about proper car seat installation, with no appointment needed. They provide replacement car seats to participants with substandard safety seats for qualifying Texas residents. Participants should be sure to bring proof of residencies, such as a utility bill and proof of government assistance or WIC or Medicare card. The child using the seat must be present, and parents must know the weight and height of the child.
The Morris Co Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring the event, Ounce of Prevention Coalition, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the Northeast Traffic Safety Coalition.
Essential questions to ask oneself are:
• Does it move from side to side in your car?
• Is the seat too large or too small for your child?
• Do you know the history of the seat?
• Is it expired?
• Do you want to learn how to install correctly?
• When can the care seat be turned around from rear-facing to front-facing?
Fact: Studies show four out of every five car seats are installed incorrectly. For more information, contact: Irene Webster, TxDOT Traffic Safety Specialist, at 903-799-1221 or [email protected].
