In tournament baseball yesterday, the Prairiland Patriots defeated Paris High at the Bells tournament 7-4. Blake Ballard and Brooks Morrison each had two RBI for the Patriots. Trace McNeal had two RBI for Paris.
Also on Thursday Chisum beat Jacksonville 9-2 and then lost to Grand Saline 12-1. Jordan Leverette finished with 3 RBI in the win over Jacksonville.
North Lamar defeated Durant 4-2. Trent Nickerson got the win on the mound for the Panthers. He also drove in a pair of runs.
In softball, North Lamar remained red hot as they defeated Rockwall Heath 9-6 and Forney 4-3. Ashlyn Reavis had a home run and three RBI in the day.
Chisum defeated Community 9-2 and the fell to Bonham 9-1.
Prairiland moves to 13-1 on the season with a 3-2 win over Whitewright and an 8-0 shutout over Ponder.
Rivercrest split their two games. Defeating Pottsboro 5-0 and losing to Bonham 7-0.
The No. 10 Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team picked up a 70-60 win over St. Mary’s on Thursday in the Lone Star Conference Championship Quarterfinal round. The Lions never trailed after the first two minutes of the game and used a late run in the fourth to pull away from the Rattlers to get the win.
And the Dallas Stars were shut out in Nashville last night 2-0.

The No. 10 Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team picked up a 70-60 victory over St. Mary’s on Thursday in the Lone Star Conference Championship Quarterfinal round. The win brings the Lions to 27-2 on the season, and they advance to the semifinal round for the third consecutive season. The Lions await their opponent for the semifinal round between Tarleton and Eastern New Mexico. The Lions’ semifinal game will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday at the Comerica Center in Frisco.

District 24-1A released its All-District Boys’ Basketball honors. The MVP went to Chris Boekhorst and Andrew Redburn received Offensive Player of the Year, both from Saltillo. Defensive Player of the Year was Kagen McGuire of Avery and Avinger’s Judson Jones was New Comer of the Year.
