Paris Resident And UT-Dallas Student Is Grand Prize Winner Of $125,000

Dr. Pepper kicked off College Football Conference Championship weekend by giving away $125,000 in tuition during halftime of the SEC final to Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway Winner Tate L. of Paris from the University of Texas at Dallas. Tate has endured five open-heart surgeries, a stroke, and a collapsed vocal cord due to a heart defect. As a result of his medical condition, doctors told Tate that sports would not be the future. However, he has defied the odds to become one of the top high school golfers in TX. He hopes to continue to play while attending the University of TX at Dallas. However, with outstanding medical debt and job loss in the family, Tate’s college education seemed unattainable.
