Happy Thursday!

CASA of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Liz Robbins, Advocate Supervisor and Cassy Cummings, Sarah Sims, Lily Marshall, Lynn McDermott and Amy Troxel as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) by the Honorable Judge Danny Woodson.

CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris Counties endeavors to provide trained volunteer advocates in all abuse and neglect foster care cases assigned by the courts. Judges screen the highly trained CASA Volunteers and then appointed them to represent and advocate for a child’s best interest in the child protection system. CASA Volunteer training begins in August. For more information, call 903.717.8940.

During off season for RV occupancy, Big Cypress RV is planning to use our RV sites for a “summer weekends” garage sale/flea market. Spaces available for $10 per day to set up and Dailey storage on week days. It is $20 per day for Saturday and Sunday sale days and to use electricity and water. Vendors can leave secure containers on their site between weekends for the daily rate.

We will have one food vendor at the Pavilion exclusive so no fast food vendors. Farmers market and canned good vendors are welcome. Come and down size, sell your wares and buy! We have 24hr recorded security through out the park but will not be responsible for theft or damage. We are shooting for opening week end July 29, 2016. Call 903-767-2202 for info and rent your space. Please leave a message if we are away from the phone.

The 2016 Pirate Tailgate party. This year’s event is Thursday (Aug 11) at the City Park across from the High School. Set-up begins at 5:00 pm and the announcing of the students starts at 6:30 pm. Hopefully, we can be cleaned up and cleared of the park before 8:00 pm. If you are participating, I need to know what you will be doing. Will you need electricity, regular booth or grilling? I am excited about another great Tailgate party and to showcase our students. Please do not hesitate to call or text with any questions or concerns. I will do my best to assist! Go Pirates!! We are in the planning stages of this year’s Pioneer Days. We are adding a lot this year to make it bigger and better. That means we need more volunteers than ever before. If you would like to help grow this into one of the major events in North East Texas, please contact Allen at the Chamber office 903-856-3442.

The Peach Queen contest is under way. Girls will be selling tickets to three separate events form now until Thursday (Aug 11) to earn their way to the Crown.

The 2016 Pioneer Days are Friday through Sunday (September 15-17), and planning is fully underway. We are adding a Bar-BQ Cook-off Saturday afternoon, a Community Leaders Luncheon Thursday at noon, and a Peach Queen Coronation Wednesday evening. Several young ladies, high school seniors, from the Pittsburg area, are selling tickets to each of these events from now until Thursday (Aug 11) to earn points toward becoming the 2016 Peach Queen. This is a fundraiser to increase activities not only for Pioneer Days but, for other events throughout the year in Camp County.
Thanks, Pioneer Days Planning Committee

Thank you for all you do. Have a Great weekend,
