The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Simms Friday afternoon. It happened after Bowie County Deputies responded to a report of a suicidal person. Reportedly, 60-year-old Mark Robert Peters was inside his home and fired a shot, refusing to come out. After several hours of negotiations, Peters eventually exited the house, still carrying the weapons, and turned toward the officers threateningly, and a deputy fired a single shot. Peters was flown to Titus Regional Medical Center and then to UT-Tyler, listed in critical condition.
