A 40 year old Northeast Texas man has pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child under the age of 14. Chesley Dean Hayes was then sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was sentenced under the 2007 Jessica’s Law which enhances punishment for continuous offenses. Hayes must serve the entire 25 years without the possibility of parole. Hayes is also expected to plead guilty to similar charges in Smith County, and those sentences will be served concurrently.
