Convicted Murderer Who Wrongly Served 25 Years Exonerated

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office announced the dismissal of Martin Santillan on Wednesday for his 1998 capital murder conviction. The announcement came after a thorough re-investigation initiated by Centurion Ministries, a New Jersey-based innocence organization, and conducted by the Dallas County DA’s Office’s Conviction Integrity Unit. The investigation concluded that Santillan was innocent. Nevertheless, he spent 25 years in prison after the wrongful conviction.
