Paris Falls Gilmer Advances Plus Mavs Snap Losing Skid

Paris – On Friday night the Paris Wildcat football team saw a historic season come to an end at the hands of Van 55-27. It was only the forth time in school history Paris had reached the regional round of the high school football post season. They’ll finish the year with a 9-4 overall record and as district, bi-district and area round champions. Van advances to face off with Kennedale in the state quarterfinals. In basketball, 5th ranked Clarksville dominates over Edgewood 66-36. The North Lamar Panthers drop their season opener to Sherman 67-44.

Mount Pleasant – The Gilmer Buckeyes are Regional champions after beating Jasper 50-21. Gilmer will advance to face Celina on Friday night. The Mt. Pleasant Tiger basketball team is off to a solid start to the season. Ranked 22nd in the state, Mt. Pleasant has opened the season at 2-0, including a 70-54 win over Terrell last week. The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow night when they host Idabel at Willie Williams Gym. Tip off on Tuesday is at 7:30. The Chapel Hill Red Devils are also on a tear to close out 2016, starting their hear 6-1 on the hardwood. Over the weekend, Chapel Hill notched a win over Bishop Gorman 52-34. The Red Devils travel to White Oak tomorrow. Tip off is set for 7:30.

Sulphur Springs – The Sulphur Springs Wildcat basketball team is off to a solid start to their season at 3-0, including a win before the break over Wills Point 60-38. The Wildcats varsity boys hoops team will make their way back to the court tomorrow night at home against Denison before taking part in the Royse City tournament this weekend. The Sulphur Springs girls basketball team has won four straight and look to extend that winning streak when they participate this weekend in the Winnsboro Hoop fest. Mt. Vernon’s boys and girls have high expectations this season. The boys are at home against Quinlan Ford tomorrow evening while the Lady Tigers are 7-2 and will take on Paris tomorrow.

The Dallas Cowboys won their franchise record 10th straight game with a 31-26 thanksgiving day victory over Washington. Zeke Elliott had 120 total yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Cowboys are 10-1 on the season, two games ahead of the Giants.

The Dallas Mavericks won a basketball game last night over New Orleans 91-81, snapping an eight game losing streak. Harrison Barnes led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds. Wesley Mathews added 21 points. The Mavs are 3-13 on the season and host the Spurs Wednesday night.

And tonight the Stars take on the St. Louis Blues tonight on the road. Dallas is 9-8-5 with 23 points on the season. Puck drop tonight is set for 7pm.
