Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Employee Jailed

Thursday, the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office announced an internal investigation led to the arrest of a former employee. They arrested Kaitlyn Rhodes for bringing prohibited items into a correctional facility and having an inappropriate relationship with a person in custody. Both charges are felonies. Her bond is $50,000.

Texas has executed Jedidiah Isaac Murphy for murdering an elderly Garland woman. Court documents show that Murphy carjacked the vehicle of 80-year-old Bertie Lee Cunningham, threw her in the trunk of her car, and shot her. He then drove to Van Zandt County and drowned her.
