Commerce Man Charged With Sexual Abuse

A 73 year old Commerce man  has been charged with sexually assaulting a child on multiple occasions. Earnest Thomas Smith remains in jail on one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child, 3 counts of aggravated sexual assaulf of a child and nine counts of indecency with a child.  Smith is being held in lieu of $680.000 bond, but his attorney has filed a motion to reduce that bond to $50,000.
