Approximately 75 dogs died in a fire at the Ponderosa Pet Resort in Georgetown on Saturday night. Twenty-five firefighters responded to the fire after the department received multiple 911 calls of flames shortly before 11:00 pm, and crews arrived on the scene within 4 ½ minutes. They made entry into the building but were unable to save any of the pets. The Ponderosa’s webpage states on its FAQ page that the resort does not have staff on-site 24 hours a day.
