Henderson County has convicted a 38-year-old man of murder and four counts of kidnapping. Court documents show Robert Mason Eckert of Athens fatally shot 38-year-old Marco Matthew Gonzales on the front porch of a residence, then fled inside and took several hostages. He was sentenced to 60 years for the murder and 25 for the kidnapping and given 904 days for the time he had spent in jail since the murder.
