With Coronavirus raging in El Paso County, there is a fight over the right for businesses to stay open, and the Supreme Court of Texas is declining to get involved, at least for now. At issue is the executive order issued by El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego that goes beyond the guidelines put in place by Governor Abbott. The state joined the businesses in a lawsuit challenging Samanigo’s authority to override the governor. The 8th Court of Appeals promised a ruling Thursday. The Texas Supreme Court is not hinting n how it might rule on a future appeal.
