The distribution of a grant will be split evenly between the City of Paris and the county following a unanimous agreement from Lamar County Commissioners. Adding approximately $12,000, the Lamar County Sheriff’s department says they plan to use the money to help suicide prevention to ensure inmates aren’t harming themselves. Other parts of the cost will be used to fund video upgrades inside unit cars to help make patrol uploads more efficient. Paris police plan to use their additional funds to help improve radio communications. Local fees will see no increase from the previous year, as agreed on by commissioners.
