Officials rescued more than 70 horses, and 17 farm animals this week after 50 other horses were found dead at “Over the Moon” sanctuary near Canton. The horses that were still alive were trying to eat trees they were so hungry. “They had not only begun, but they had made a significant dent in the bark off most of the trees they could reach,” said Maura Davies, a spokesperson for the SPCA. A judge will decide what happens to the surviving horses next week.
