Music Scholarships Awarded To North Lamar HS Band Students

North Lamar High School band members Heather Armstrong, Sam Greenwell, Ashton Carter, and Seth Carter were recently awarded the Betty Whitlock Scholarship from the Mount Vernon Music organization.

The scholarship provides area students with supplemental funding for music education through private lessons, music camps, or purchase of performance-grade instruments.  Through the application process, students are given the opportunity to prepare a piece to performance level, and then showcase their talents to the supporting community.

The four North Lamar students have been selected to perform the solos they submitted for the scholarship this summer during the Mount Vernon Music Festival concerts in Mt. Vernon, Texas.  For more information, visit www.mountvernonmusic.org.
