New, Faster Coronavirus Testing

This is a picture of the CDC’s laboratory test kit for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). CDC tests are provided to U.S. state and local public health laboratories, Department of Defense (DOD) laboratories, and select international laboratories.

The Food and Drug Administration has given emergency use authorization to a coronavirus test that can detect results in 45 minutes. The tests are being manufactured by a California-based company and will be shipped out this week.
