New Traffic Light On US 271

Texas Department of Transportation officials today said a new traffic signal will soon grace US 271 just north of Loop 286. The signal will service the truck entrance for the Campbells Soup Company.

The contractor, FNH Construction, Farmers Branch, Texas, will install a new traffic signal at an estimated cost of more than $165,000. The target date for completion of this project is Aug. 22.

TxDOT officials said the new traffic signal will be located approximately ¼ mile north of Stone Avenue on US 271. The contractor will begin boring for service lines Aug. 5, and begin drilling for the signal foundations sometime early next week. One week to 10 days after the foundations are placed, the contractor will erect the signal poles and place the signal light heads.

The contractor will also relocate the existing flashing beacon on US 271 near this site to a new location further north near the intersection of Lake Crook Road and US 271, officials said.

This work will require some alternating daytime lane closures throughout construction. Motorists are advised to slow down in this area and be alert for traffic controls, flagmen and law enforcement personnel directing traffic. Access to all adjacent property and nearby businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
