Texas Democrats revealed a new plan to connect the Texas power grid to other states and limit ERCOT’s control over the system’s operation. The “Connect the Grid Act” would also pay for constructing new power lines to deliver enough electricity to nine million homes on a hot day. While the bill would allow Texas power producers to sell electricity to out-of-state consumers, it would strip ERCOT of its regulatory authority and subject Texas to federal requirements.
