On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Officers and Fire Department personnel responded to Sulphur Springs Elementary School, located at 829 Bell Street, about a bomb threat. Officers immediately began investigating the origin of the call. This investigation led to police issuing an arrest warrant for 36-year-old Morgan Rechelle Durrett of Dallas. Officials later escorted her back to Sulphur Springs, where they booked her into the Hopkins County Jail on a third-degree felony warrant for Terroristic Threat.
