The Texas House of Representatives Tuesday abruptly adjourned after passing a smuggling bill and its version of a property tax reduction bill which caps property valuations on homes and businesses. It differs from the Senate version, which significantly increases homestead exemptions. The message sent by the House to the Senate means the Senate must pass the House bills or nothing. Since the House has adjourned, it can’t reconvene during this special session.
