United Way Of Lamar County Announes New Scholarship

 

 

The United Way of Lamar County (UWLC) has announced today that they are staring an annual $500 scholarship open to all graduating Lamar County high school seniors attending a four-year college/university in the fall. Eligible graduating seniors must also have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have benefitted from one of the United Way of Lamar County’s Partner Agencies.

Jenny Wilson, Executive Director of the UWLC, stated “Education has always been one of our primary focuses. This scholarship is just another way that the United Way can have a direct impact on our youth and our community and celebrate the importance of education.”

Each applicant must submit a written essay (500 words) that describes how one of the United Way of Lamar County’s Partner Agencies has made an impact on their life. A complete list of partner agencies available at www.lamarcountyuw.org.

Applicants should also submit a high school transcript and two letters of recommendation, all contact information and the college they will be attending in the fall. The deadline for submission is Monday, June 18, and the winning applicant will be notified by June 29, 2018.
