North Lamar Closes in On New Superintendent

  North Lamar ISD Board of Trustees has narrowed its list of superintendent candidates down to seven. The board, which hired the educational search firm Education Solutions and Services, had originally been looking at 43 candidates.   Texas and nationwide retail gasoline prices are up again. AAA Texas reports the average price at the pump statewide rose two cents to reach an average $2.28 per gallon. The national average is $2.54 a gallon.

First Annual Rainbow Trout Free Fishing Fun Weekends @ Daingerfield State Park
Jan 20 – Jan 21 all-day

The park is getting 4000 Rainbow Trout stocked into Little Pine Lake. The park is receiving one of the largest allotments of Rainbow Trout in Texas and the most of any Texas State Park as a result of a cooperative effort between Morris County, City of Daingerfield, Texas Parks, and Wildlife Department – Inland Fisheries and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department – Daingerfield State Park.

Loaner fishing gear will be available along with free bait. Besides fishing for Rainbow Trout, park visitors will get to learn how to catch, clean and cook these cold water treasures.  Other programs during our event will be Fishing 101, Knot Tying, Underwater Discovery and much more!  Make Daingerfield State Park your #1 fishing stop this winter angling for the Rainbows!

You do not need a Fishing License to fish at Daingerfield State Park!  The park will waive all entrance fees for those participating in our Rainbow Trout event. All other fishing regulations will be in effect. The limit for Rainbow Trout is five fish per angler per day (no size limit).

Visitors will be able to see club member’s display cases, demonstrations and dealer booths supplying a variety of jewelry,  jewelry making supplies, lapidary & earth science related products. Visitor’s favorites are mineral specimens, dinosaur bone, and meteorites. Once again this year the nationally famous Rock Food Table will be there. Geode cracking will also be a favorite thing to do. There are hourly door prizes, plus adult and children’s grand prizes.

Admission is free on Friday for school children, and on Saturday and Sunday, the charge is $1.00. Adult fee is $5.00. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in uniform are admitted free.

The Club has members from all over the East Texas Area and is always open to guests and those interested in rocks and earth science.
