Oddsmakers initially made Super Bowl LVII a toss-up, but the Philadelphia Eagles emerged as the betting favorites over the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. Caesars Sportsbook and other bookmakers opened the line on Super Bowl LVII at pick them Sunday night. Within an hour of posting the line, the Eagles became two-point favorites. The favored team in the Super Bowl is 39-17 straight up, according to ESPN Stats & Information’s archived point spreads.

Texas Tech rallied from 23 down to top No. 13 Iowa State in OT Monday.

Last Friday, the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Softball team started the Spring Season off by traveling to Marshall to scrimmage East Texas Baptist University. ETBU defeated the Eagles 6-0 in Game 1 and 5-1 in Game 2. Freshmen pitcher Braylynn Henderson (West Columbia, Texas) kept the Tigers off the scoreboard for the contest’s first four innings, limiting ETBU to four hits while striking out five.

The NTCC’s Rodeo team will travel to Sulphur Springs this weekend, Feb 3-4, for the Texas A&M University-Commerce Rodeo in the Hopkins County Civic Center.

BASKETBALL

The further west and north you go, the less likely there is a high school basketball game tonight.

They postponed the Mt Pleasant girl’s basketball game at Texas High tonight and tentatively scheduled it for Wednesday night. As a result, we will have a varsity girls’ game only starting at 5:00 pm.

They moved the Mount Pleasant junior high Tiger boy’s basketball game to Monday, Feb 6, instead of playing it Thursday, Jan 9. The game is still at Pine Tree.
