Portion of Lamar County Hwy Named for Fallen Trooper

A portion of U.S. Highway 82 in Lamar County has been dedicated and named in honor of a Paris-based DPS trooper who died in the line of duty earlier this year. The designation  of the Trooper Jeffrey Nichols Highway extends from 42nd Street SE to the Red River County line. Trooper Nichols was killed when he crashed his patrol car into a tree near Tigertown in March.
