A Sulphur Springs man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty in District Court to Delivery of more than 4 but less than 200 grams of a Controlled Substance. 32 year old James Christopher Castleberry received 10 years in prison and the first 5 years must be served day per day because the offense happened in a Drug Free Zone.
20 year old Corie Dewayne Jackson-Grant pleaded guilty Wednesday in Hopkins County to theft of a firearm and was a sentenced to six months state jail time. He had originally been accused on three charges including unauthorized use of a vehicle and two thefts of firearms.
A local man charged with theft of more than $30,000 but less than $150,000 has reached a plea bargain with Hopkins County prosecutors. 44 year old William Pearce Ewton was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty. Ewton had allegedly almost caused an accident on Spur 71, and was caught stopped in the middle of the road in stolen tractor with golf clubs and fishing equipment that had been stolen in the Peerless Community.
