In the game of love, sex wins. That is, at least, true for the 90% of American men who said that sex is the No. 1 thing they would be excited to receive for Valentine’s Day this year. But American women have other ideas: They rank a romantic dinner, a weekend getaway, flowers or chocolate over sex. This comes as part of a new survey by Swagbucks, that examined the top gifts people want to give and receive for Valentine’s Day this year. According to the survey:
– The No. 1 gift people are planning to give? A romantic dinner, with both men (92%) and women (90%) selecting this as their top choice. Sex is a close second: 81% of men and 79% of women plan to “share the love” this Valentine’s Day. What else is on the gift list?
Men will be giving:
- Flowers — 81%
- Chocolate — 76%
- Jewelry — 61%
Women will be giving:
- Chocolate — 61%
- Weekend Getaway — 55%
- Clothes — 55%
– The survey also found that three-quarters of Americans hope to receive something in return for their gift. Almost half (46%) are looking forward to sex, followed by a gift or dinner.
– The vast majority of Americans (87%) agree that Valentine’s Day is not when they spend the most money on their significant other, and few will be breaking the bank:
- $50 to $99 — 25%
- $25 to $49 — 22%
- $100 to $149 — 20%
They’re also not expecting to receive elaborate gifts: 26% expect a gift costing $50 to $99 and 25% expect a gift in the $25 to $49 range. Almost half (49%) don’t care if they receive a gift that cost less than the one they purchased.
