Abbott Clarifies Texas Abortion Law

The ban on abortions in Texas does not have an exception for rape, but Governor Greg Abbott says that does not mean it forces victims to give birth. Instead, Texas provides emergency contraception, called Plan-B, at no cost to victims of a sexual assault. But pro-choice groups say that emergency contraception isn’t widely accessible. In addition, federally-funded reproductive health clinics don’t operate in every community in the state.
