Boil Water Notice Lifted For City Of Houston After 2 Days Without Proper Purification

Millions of Houston residents are under a boil water notice until Tuesday. At least four area school districts were closed Monday in response. After a power outage at the East Water Purification Plant on Sunday, the nation’s fourth-largest city told water customers to boil water for at least two minutes before food preparation, drinking, bathing, or brushing their teeth. In addition, they reminded customers to avoid using water from refrigerators or ice makers. According to Houston Public Works, its water system serves 2.2 million customers.

City officials put the boil water notice in place on Sunday. It was lifted just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
