Arrest Made In NE Texas Cold Case Murder

An arrest has been made in a Northeast Texas cold case murder that occurred 30 years ago. Bowie County investigators say improvements to the FBI’s national fingerprint database led to the identification of 52-year-old Lee Morris Hamburg as a prime suspect in the fatal shooting of  Gene Downs. Hamburg was arrested on a murder charge in California and has been extradited to Bowie County where he is being held under $500,000 bond.
