  Cavender’s Boot City announced Monday that it was closing its Paris store. Store officials say it is because of declining sales. The store is located at 2855 NE Loop 286. Cavender’s plans to open new stores in Missouri, Mississippi, Colorado, Kansas and Denton and Round Rock,  Texas.

  Radio Station KHKC in Atoka County took a direct hit from a tornado last night. The general manager and his daughter were inside the building when the tornado hit but were not injured. The entire front part of the station is gone, as well as part of the roof.

  Lamar County and the City of Paris as well as other areas of Northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma were hard hit by tornadic storms that roared through the area late Monday afternoon and Monday night. 2 people are confirmed dead in Oklahoma, and there was extensive damage in Hugo. …

    Paris police were flagged down in the 600 block of Bonham after what was later described as a robbery. Three suspects allegedly assaulted the victim and took his television and other items before fleeing the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

    Paris police responded to the 2500 block of Ballard because of an alleged traffic violation committed by a person driving an ATV. Officers then saw the ATV being driven on NE 25th  but the driver fled from police.

    Paris police responded to the 1000 block of Lamar Ave for a security check and were told that 38 year old  Terrence Williams had punched his girlfriend and choked her until she couldn’t breathe. Williams was located and arrested for assault/impeding breath.

    Paris  police responded to the 2600 block of W Houston after getting a report of shots fired. Officers were told that 62 year old Jerry Rhea had shot a gun in the direction of a neighboring house and also threatened to kill the neighbor. A shotgun and shell …

    Paris police responded to a fight in the 300 block of NE 27 and were told that 52 year old Daniel McEntire  had pointed a gun at another man and pistol whipped him. McEntire was arrested for aggravated assault.
