Tribal Police Change Name

The Choctaw Nation Tribal Police will now go by a new name, “Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police. The Nation said the Choctaw Lighthorsemen originated back in 1834. Descendants of the original Lighthorse officers were at Friday’s ceremony. The department also unveiled its new badge and vehicle design.

An ATV crash in Van Zandt County injured five people Sunday morning at 12:26. Responding were the Grand Saline Fire Department, Christus EMS, UT Health EMS, and UT Air 1 North. The crash occurred on private property on Van Zandt County Road 1806. All five had non-life-threatening injuries.
