Daingerfield State Park

 

The Second Annual Freedom Fest to be held at Daingerfield State Park on June 30

Daingerfield, TX— Daingerfield State Park is celebrating our Nation’s birthday with our Second Annual Freedom Fest scheduled for June 30. It will be a fun-filled family oriented day with lots of events planned. The day will start at 7:00 am with the Red, White and Blue 5K race. Preregistration will continue through June 15 with late registration after that until the morning of the race. Official weights will be recorded at the Boathouse with awards presented at noon.

A Flag Ceremony honoring our Nation conducted by members of Boy Scouts of America & the National Anthem performed by Tra Young will begin at 9:00 am at the historic Pavilion.

A day-long Park Scavenger Hunt will get visitors out and immersed in the park by answering questions and photographing unique items. The Scavenger Hunt checklist will be available at the Park Store located in the historic Pavilion. Prizes will be given to all participants completing this adventure.

A Dutch Oven Cooking Contest will run from 8:30 am to noon with sign-in at 8:00 am. Judging will begin at noon with trophies presented to all winners. The public is invited to participate and/or sample the classic tasty creations.

Our local Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden will host the Game Theft Education Trailer during the day.

A Dunking Booth will be active to “Dunk a Ranger.” The City of Daingerfield Fire Department Firemen and the City of Hughes Springs Fire Department Fireman will display Firetrucks for all the kids to get an up-close look.

The Texas A&M Forest Service will have a booth and equipment teaching everyone about the Pineywoods. New for this year, the park will host an evening of Live Music at the historic pavilion with two bands featuring “Hurry Up and Wait” playing classic country and a whole lot more. The music will begin at 5:00 pm and run until 11:00 pm. The park is extending its closing hours to accommodate this fun event! It is free with your paid entrance permit.

Bring a picnic and enjoy the event in our newly enhanced day-use area. Also, fish off our pier or rent a boat and try your luck throughout the lake. Swim in the clear, crisp, spring feed waters of Little Pine Lake during the day. Hike our trails or relax under a giant shade tree recharging your soul! So much to do even without Freedom Fest!

Park entrance fees are $4 for adults with kids 12 and under always free. Senior Texans 65 or older will only pay $2 to enter the park daily with a Bluebonnet Pass. Unlimited park entrances for you and everyone in your vehicle happens with the purchase of a Texas State Park Annual Pass for $70 which is good for over 12 months.
