Red River County Genealogical Society

The Red River County Genealogical Society’s monthly meeting is Monday (Mar 9) at 7:00 pm at the Red River County Chamber of Commerce meeting room. Dawn Standridge, the research assistant at the Wheelock Academy in Millerton, Oklahoma, is the speaker for this month. His subject will be “The Choctaw Trail of Tears.” The Trail of Tears was initiated by the United States government to remove the Choctaw Nation from their country, referred to now as the Deep South, to lands west of the Mississippi River in the Indian Territory in the 1830s. All interested persons should come and enjoy the program.
