Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar Releases Statement on Federal Government’s Failure to Extend Broadband Challenge Deadline
(AUSTIN) — I’m disappointed that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has stubbornly refused to resolve a problem of its creation and may sacrifice data quality to meet arbitrary and aggressive timelines.
However, in response to pressure from Texas and other states, NTIA indicates that they could resolve our challenges despite being filed after its Jan. 13 deadline in time for inclusion in the map used for allocation.
Texas will continue its dialogue with NTIA to improve its data, advocate for broadband needs in Texas, and secure a fair allocation of Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment funding.
