The parents of a mentally ill Northeast Texas man killed by a Texarkana police officer have filed a federal lawsuit against the officer, the police department and the city. 35 year old Dennis Grigsby Jr., a clinically diagnosed schizophrenic, was killed in December of 2014. He was reportedly wearing pajamas, acting aggressively and carrying a spoon when he was shot by the officer who was responding to a call about a man in a neighbor’s garage. The officer was “ no-billed” by the Bowie County grand jury, who ruled the shooting justified.
