Governor Abbott Announces End To Federal Pandemic-Related Unemployment Benefits

Governor Abbott on Monday withdrew Texas from the federal pandemic-related unemployment benefits. It would put an end to the $300-dollar weekly national unemployment supplement. The state’s booming economy and the high level of fraudulent unemployment claims is why Abbott says he informed the U.S. Department of Labor that the state is opting out of the additional covid pandemic assistance as of June 26. The move was called for just last week by the Texas Association of Business.
