High School Basketball And More In Today’s Sports Update

Prairiland defeated New Boston 55-51 last night. Prairiland jumped out to a 16 point lead in the second only to watch the Lady Lions come back to tie it at 49. Caitlyn Folse calmly sank two free throws to put Prairiland back up for good. Hannah Murdock led the team with 14 points. Prairiland will play the winner of Tatum and Harmony who plays tonight.

In other playoff action, Paris fell to Gilmer 49-37. Gilmer only led by four points after the third quarter before pulling away in the final frame.

It was Bullard 57-43 over North Lamar. Mylee Nottingham led North Lamar with 20 points.

Tonight the Honey Grove Lady Warriors will play North Hopkins at Prairiland at 6:00 pm while Detroit faces Harleton at 8:00 pm in Pittsburg.

Also tonight on Mix 107-7, the North Lamar Panthers will host the Paris Wildcats at 7:00 pm. The Detroit boys will travel to McCleod. Chisum will be at Mt Vernon.

In softball yesterday the Prairiland Lady Patriots defeated Tom Bean 3-0. Grace Unruh and Mckenna Guest combined for the shutout. Unruh had nine strikeouts while Guest finished with four.

MPJH’s Track Meet in Sulphur Springs is now Monday (Feb 24) instead of Tuesday (Feb 25).

The Paris Wildcat Baseball team played Prairiland in a scrimmage Monday. The Paris JV plays Prairiland today (Feb 18) on the hill at 5:00 pm, depending on the weather.

WRESTLING

The 2020 UIL Wrestling State Championships will be on February 21-22 at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas. Conference 5A and 6A boys’ matches begin at 8:30 am on Friday, and 5A, 6A girls matches begin at 11:00 am. Events on Saturday begin at 8:30 am with Conference 5A and 6A boys. Conference 5A and 6A girls begin at 10:30 am. Saturday. The Parade of Champions starts at 4:30 pm, and all championships matches will follow.
